Summary
The Current Population Survey (CPS) Civic Engagement and Volunteering (CEV) Supplement is a national survey tracking American volunteerism, community involvement, and political actions. In 2025, more than 80% of CNCS ("AmeriCorps") workforce was placed on administrative leave, and a substantial portion of the agency's funding was withheld. Although some staff and funding were subsequently restored, the agency experienced significant resource constraints during 2025. Moreover, from FY2024 to FY2026, the Census Bureau, which administers the survey, lost more than 2,500 staff (approximately 20%).
